A 36-foot Contender Boat, piloted by Nick Searock, has been loaded with relief supplies and is now headed across the Atlantic Ocean for Abaco Island. Their first stop will be Green Turtle Key. Bob Hallett, CEO of Skydive DeLand is spearheading the efforts directly from his skydiving center.
Supplies are being delivered and being organized by Luke Koenig and his two daughters who are learning the value and importance of hard work and helping others.
Skydive DeLand is one of the most popular Drop Zones in the world, their fans, and the skydiving community are rallying around the effort to provide relief supplies right to the front lines of this humanitarian crisis. Flights will be going airborne as soon as the very complicated logistics are worked out. There have been reports of robberies on the islands. Safety and security issues will need to be eliminated. Reports from the island have said the runways are clear for takeoffs and landings.
A special request from Luke Koenig, who is coordinating this collection point with his two daughters, is plastic totes and bug spray. The totes are used to secure loose items and allow them to stack neatly and safely on the aircraft. Well, you can imagine the need for bug spray!!!!
